New at Lake of the Ozarks

America’s favorite lakeside resorts get spiffy with added amenities that appeal to all

By Suzanne Wright

Americans love the water, whether they are splashing in it or just admiring it. When it comes to lakes, Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks earned top billing from readers of USA Today in 2015, besting Lake Tahoe, Lake Michigan and Lake Powell for the prestigious “Best Recreational Lake” award. With more than 1,000 miles of shoreline, this reservoir from the Osage River has earned its nickname “Fun Lake” for the many water-centered activities it offers visitors.

Recently, major resorts in the area have been busy unveiling new and improved experiences for guests. So take a seat, get comfortable and read on as you imagine what awaits you on your next lakeside getaway.

Sophistication & style

Since 1964, this beautifully landscaped, campus-style resort has drawn repeat leisure and business visitors. It’s well-suited for couples or gal-pals, providing a top-rated Spa Shiki and four pools. The multi-million dollar renovation—the biggest in the property’s history—kicked off in March 2015. Improvements include complete remodeling of guest rooms with a warm and inviting palette, as well as upgraded finishes, furnishings and lighting. In addition, all public areas including the lobby, restaurants, meeting rooms and the indoor/outdoor swimming pool, have been enhanced.
