Lake Area Industries Gifted Gardens

Lake Area Industries is just one of 90 sheltered workshops in Missouri. Over the 30 years in business LAI has traditionally relied on contract packaging and assembly work from partnering businesses around the state. In 2010 the LAI management team began searching for new business opportunities that would accomplish our mission and at the same time add new revenues to the workshop.

After touring a similar greenhouse operation in Columbia, Missouri, LAI saw this opportunity as one we could not pass up! Horticulturist Bill Regen agreed to consult with LAI and has been instrumental on bringing this project to fruition!

Employees have been excited to work in the greenhouse and look forward to helping customers in the retail area. Gifted Garden's brings new job experiences and challenges that some employees will carry with them in life and possibly future job opportunities.

Job duties can include sowing seeds, filling pots with dirt, daily watering and feeding, carrying products to customers' car and restocking shelves in the retail area.

If you stop in for your plants and flowers, ask to see the workshop too! We will continue to service our current and new customers by offering mailing services, assembly, collating, bagging and various packaging options and assembly.
